Audi 2010 Green Car Super Bowl Commercial

This is a great ad from Audi to promote the 2010 A3 TDI, Green Car Journal’s 2010 Green Car of the Year. Not only is the message one that I fully endorse, the creative approach used to deliver this message is hilarious. In the video the “Green Police” are seen apprehending environmental wrongdoers for everything from using plastic bags and incandescent light bulbs to having compostable and recyclable materials in their trash.

The Audi turbo-diesel at the end is appealing too, nice styling and an impressive 42mpg highway. The Audi A3 won 2010 Green Car of the Year and, although I think the phrase “clean diesel” is an oxymoron, this technology is a step in the right direction.

The Green Police is Audi’s satirical solution to protecting and conserving the Earth. There are some who might see this ad as derisive and offending; the irony is that this paradox is what it would take for some to change their own, possibly unconscious, actions and habits that damage the environment.
